Pacific Helm

I love having such talented friends! Marta Crowe designed and decorated the Pacific Helm office, and I was able to take photos of the space once it was complete.  It's a beautiful office located in the heart of San Francisco.  Pacific Helm is a design studio run by some hella talented folks (we say hella in California, right?).  Here are some of the photos I took of their office.

If you're looking to redo your office space, bedroom, kitchen, any room really, Marta is your girl!

Photographing an interior is very different than taking photos of fashion stuff, but I find the balance of shooting both to be nice (still objects verses moving humans). My interest in interior photography began when I still lived in Canada. I started discovering that a lot of my favorite portrait photographers also were shooting interiors. I figured they must be onto something. I took on the challenge (always learn as much as you can!) and I'm glad to be doing more of these shoots again.

In other news, I quit my job.  It was an amazing year and a bit at Photojojo, but I am *so* excited to pursue fashion and editorial photography.  So if you're looking for a photographer that shoots in those genres, hit me up, I'm available.

My Grandmother

She's one of the most inspiring ladies I know.  Here she is writing a card to someone, and on the right, she's dancing with a plastic bag in her hand.  The dancing was her immediate response when she saw me taking photos of her (which she doesn't particularly like).

2012 - Reflecting

Here are (just shy of) 100 of my favorite photos I took in 2012 (with the exception of 3-4 being when we first moved to SF).  I was hoping by the end of 2012 my portfolio would be a lot further along than it is, but the moving process slowed everything down, and it's only now that I feel settled.  That being said, I'm so happy that 2012 is filled with photos taken with my 5D, iPhone, and film cameras.  It's a mix of everything.  My phone allowed me to catch so many snippets of my life that I would have otherwise missed.  Looking back, it's filled with so many colors and so many wonderful memories.  I love that it looks back between 3 different countries, and that it's filled with some of the people closest in my life (or at least, those people are in the memories, if not all the pictures).

While every year comes with its surprises, this past year has been one of the most challenging, yet by far, the best year of my life.  I'm so thankful for it all and for everyone I met during the transition of moving.

Here they are, 2012:

I am so ready for 2013!  I want to take more photos, I want to take more photos of people, I want to take more photos with my 5D, and I want to travel as much as I can.  The best thing about traveling is it doesn't have to be far.  I'll always push for the further trips, but it's simply getting outside and walking around my neighborhood, or quick overnight trips to the desert.  Anything that gets you seeing and slowing down to look around at those things.

Fifth & Brannan - Lifestyle Lookbook

Here are the last of the photos I took for Fifth & Brannan.  Barron & Kate, the founders of Fifth & Brannan, have become good friends of mine,  It was such a fun day working with them, as well as having my boyfriend, Dustin, and our friend Cesar modeling.

*Huge* thank you to Bill Couch for letting us use his absolutely beautiful apartment for this shoot!  We were able to shoot both the studio (backdrop, lights and all) and the lifestyle photos here.  I've wanted to shoot in his place for awhile, and it was perfect for the Fifth & Brannan photos.

Enjoy!
